Nominations and applications are now being accepted for the 2010 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) to honor outstanding certified math and science teachers (grades K-6) for innovative teaching methods.

Administered by the National Science Foundation on behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, the awards are given to math and science teachers from each of the 50 states and four U.S. jurisdictions.

The deadline for nominations is April 1, 2010. Nominated teachers are then invited to begin the process and must submit the application by May 1, 2010.

The program alternates annually to recognize elementary and secondary teachers. Nominations for secondary teachers (grades 7-12) will be accepted in 2011.
